ABOUT VRATZATA GORGE

This is a narrow and rocky gorge in the steep north - east slope of the Vratsa mountain in the West Stara planina (the Balkans). For many years the Vratzata gorge attract the tourists and the local people. It is situated about 0,5 km from the town of Vratsa and is also a place for alpinism. In Roman times the gorge was blocked by a high fortress wall (200 m long and 1 m wide) with a gate.
