ABOUT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF EDUCATION
In 9 th century Bulgaria is the first country in Europe which have made its own church, school and literature, have protected and developed the Revival traditions in educational plan. The building of the Aprilov High School was officially designated as a Monument of Culture of National importance. It was erected in 1835. In this school a lot of well – known Bulgarians studied. Some of them are Aleko Konstantinov and Emanuil Manolov. It has preserved his national pattern from the Revival period till nowadays.
Today the building hosts the National Museum of Education. The Museum was built on 01.01.1973 and it is situated in the eastern side of the historical building of Aprilov High School. In front of it stands the monument devoted to the generous Gabrovo merchant Vasil Aprilov, who donated the first Bulgarian secular school to Gabrovo. The Museum was created to look for, gather, research, and keeps written and important monuments from the Bulgarian education. In it there are photolaboratory, audiovisual studio, videoroom which show you the education’s development through the years.
