ABOUT THE VILLAGE OF KUKLEN
Village of Kuklen (6560 inhabitants) is situated 3 km northwest of
Assenovgrad, and 16 km south of
Plovdiv. It is located at the northern foots of the Western
Rhodopes Mountains. The beautiful nature and the mild climate of the region offer wonderful opportunities for relaxation and recreation away from the noisy, strenuous city.
There are numerous chalets and picturesque eco tracks in the area, that contribute to the development of mountain tourism.
SURROUNFING AREAS
Kouklen Monastery "Sveti 40 Muchenitsi" is situated 4 km south-west of Kouklen. It is known to exist since the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (12 - 14 c.).
5 km southeast of the village stands the historical
Assenova Fortress.
15 km southeast of the village of Kuklen, along the road to
Smolyan, the second large and significant Bulgarian monastery is situated –
Bachkovo Monastery.
