GABROVO CULTURAL CALENDAR FOR 2005
The calendar includes:
1 April – Anniversary of the Home of humor and satire and Planet Gabrovo:
- Opening of an individual exhibition of the sculptor Nikolai Tsvetanov
- “The freedom” – a visiting exhibition from the International contest for caricature held in the town of Krosshoyten, Belgium
- Annual national exhibition of the Bulgarian caricature
- Exhibition “Carnival posters” from the fund of the Home of humor and satire
11-19 May – IV International festival of comedy performances – Drama theater “Racho Stoyanov”
13, 14 May – XXIV International Dixieland parade
21 May – XVII International biannual competition of humor and satire in arts. Individual exhibition of Kumnam Beck, Republic of Korea – winner of the grand prize “Golden Aesop” for 2003 – Home of humor and satire.
21 May – Gabrovo carnival with the participation of groups from Bulgaria, Russia, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, etc.
- 8.15 am – Public prayer dedicated to the well-fare of the town of Gabrovo – in the “Holy Mother of God” Church
- 9.30 am – Solemn raising of the flag of Gabrovo – on the “Vazrajdane” square
- 9.40 am – Solemn meeting of the Municipal Council of Gabrovo – in the Ritual hall of the Municipality
- 10.00 am – National children’s festival “Malkia Smehurko” – Cultural home
- 10.00 am – The merry bustle – Home of humor and satire
- 11.00 am – Opening of the XVII International Biannual contest of humor and satire in arts – Home of humor and satire
- 11.00 am – Cats carnival and review – in the lobby of the “Vazrajdane” hall
- 14.30 pm – Parade of the Gabrovo brass-bands – on the “Parvi Mai” square
- 15.00 pm – Children’s mini-carnival – on the “Vazrajdane” square
- 17.00 pm – Carnival procession – in downtown Gabrovo
- 20.30 pm – Festive concert – on the “Vazrajdane” square
- 22.30 pm – Fireworks, discotheque – on the “Vazrajdane” square
22 May – XI National assembly – outtalk “Blagolaj” – Home of humor and satire
1-5 September – International festival for the young people from the fraternized towns
2-4 September – International crafts fair – folklore recreation of home based crafts – Ethnographic museum in the open “Etar”
12-16 September – Days of the chamber music – 29 edition – in the “Emanuil Manolov” Home of Culture
14 October – Day of the defenders of Gabrovo – St. Petka the Bulgarian. Holiday of the brass-band music:
- 13 October – Eastern Orthodox singing – in the “Holy Trinity” Church
- 14 October – Church singing – in the “Vazrajdane” hall
15-24 December – Children’s Christmas town – in the garden in front of “Clay pots”
