ABOUT THE “ST. ST. PETER AND PAVEL” CHURCH
The “St. St. Peter and Pavel” Church is situated in the town of Melnik. It is located just 5 minutes of walk away from the centre of the town to the southwestern direction. The church was declared a monument of culture with national significance, as a part of the cultural and historical reserve of Melnik (in the town-museum of Melnik).
It was built during the XIX century (in 1840). Exceptionally valuable are the typically painted iconostasis, the bishop’s throne, the pulpit and the ornamental frescoes. The icons of “Introduction to the church” from the second half of XVI century and “The Birth of the Virgin Mary” from the XVII century are extraordinary valuables as well.
Nowadays the church does not function.
